BSNL GPRS Settings for Nokia s40 3rd Edition Mobiles

by vbb on June 21, 2009

in Mobile Web

Nokia mobiles with Symbian s40 3rd Edition operating system include many popular models like,Nokia 3500C,6300,6131,6233,6270,660 slide,6600 fold,3600 slide,6300i,5610Xpress music,5310xpress music,6500 and so on.

GPRS Settings configuration of all above mobiles are similar in nature and given below.Note that these are manual settings and you should try it only after you fail to get GPRS access after automatic settings.

GPRS settings

Before you try these settings,Kindly make sure that-GPRS

After all these, if you are still unable to open Internet on your mobile then, take a backup and then either RESET your mobile to factory defaults or erase all the settings by which you are unable to get Internet.

Then Setup you mobile as given below.User inputs are given in italics letters.Wherever are the italics letter, you have to write something but without brackets.

Update:
BSNL has changed Access points for many regions. It’s supposed that they are using a unified access point for all India regions. For example, the access point for northern region is no longer ‘gprsnorth.cellone.in’ bus it’s now “bsnlnet“.So kindly use the updated access points if you are unable to get GPRS by using the older access point.

Thank you very much. I somehow goofed up my settings 2 months back and BSNL customer care could not help me in getting these. But your instructions are just perfect !! I simply replaced bsnlnorth with bsnlsouth (I reside in Bangalore). It worked…

Just one favour, I have Nokia6300 and the model has Yahoo IM facility. It does not allow me to login as server name is missing. If you can please help me in getting this resolved then I’ll be grateul to you.

Thanks for keeping the people well informed about these settings !

Make sure that you ALWAYS use Opera Mini to browse. If GPRS was working and suddenly stopped then it’s best to Reset the phone (only after taking a backup) and reapply the settings..This should solve your problem.

I have a Nokia 3110C handset with BSNLGPRS connection located in east India(Assam). While trying to configure the settings from web, a message”verification failed. Settings discarded” is appearing on trying to save the message. As such settings could not be configured. After that i tried the manual setting as suggested by you. But on trying to browse the web, a meassage”Packet data connection not available” is getting displayed. please suggest.

Reply

Vbb July 23, 2009 at 12:38 pm

@Manab:The message “Packet data connection not available” usually appears when the GPRS network is down.If you have selected “packet data connection-when available” then there should be a “G” icon on the main home screen whenever GPRS network is present.

Hi sir thnx 4 giving the setting,i was not able to access internet on any app. Except inbuilt browser
but i cant access on opera yet.
I ve 4 rp in acount & monthly gprs pack
Is this due to less acount or what?

Reply

Vbb July 29, 2009 at 9:24 am

@Yadvendu :It doesn’t seem to be an account balance related problem.Try with the latest version of Opera Mini and check that GPRS is selected as the default access point for all applications.

Hello sir,

I have GPRS enabled BSNL prepaid mobile (Nokia 3110c). I could browse through my mobile. But I could not connect internet through my Laptob using Mobile as modem through Bluetooth. I can pair my mobile with Laptob and I could access my mobile through laptop which means there is no problem in Bluetooth connectivity. But I could not connect Ineternet. I have tried through PC suit also. While tried through PC suit, the Laptob shows “Disconnected” and my mobile shows “Temporary Network problem”. How can I configure my mobile?

The Above settings will never work. Please use only automatic configuration. No Chance of failure 4 Automatic configuration.

I tried the above settings many times in 5610, 5310xpressmusic & 2700classic. Every got a message – ”Packet data connection not available”.
At last I had to reset all factory settings.

Please note that a lot of new mobile sets are released every month, and BSNL cannot track them all and have settings for each and every set. When you are stuck in such situation use the model number of some old phones like -Nokia N70,Nokia 6300,Nokia 6600 and so on.
This is a tried and tested method.
