I have just purchased a Nokia 2700 Classic. For some reasons, I am unable to recieve the settings sms from the customer service. Tried the manual settings. But now, it only works on opera mini and some nokia support. But when I constantly press 0 to test the connection or use some inbuilt apps, then it says “subscribe to packet data first”. I have also tried selecting the Use default for all applications but to no avail.

Hey, your suggestion does not work on s40 devices like Nokia 6151. All other network’s gprs settings (airtel, vodafone) is compatible with applications such as opera, ucweb.Because you can see the settings of such networks in
But you can’t see the settings of bsnl gprs in the above root. Applications like opera works with the settings found in the above shown root. So you can’t bring bsnl’s settings to the above root even manually.

I found the result from googling. The steps are
1) goto settings> configurations > personal configurations>options>add new>Access point

Now define packet data access point as bsnlnet. Now goto configurations> preferred access point> My access point
You are done !!!
