It was not a secret news that Google has been doing something regarding releasing an Operating System. Many speculations were ended when it released Android,a platform for mobile devices. But the cat is now out of the bag and Google it actually going to give us an OS called Chrome OS –based on the popular browser by Google itself.

From the details it seems that it’s not going to be a full blown OS like Windows but  an OS which can just do your tasks without bells and whistles.

Here are main features of the OS which we can hopefully see in later half of 2010.Google Chrome OS

  • Based on a Linux kernel.
  • Open source,,lightweight and targeted at Netbooks.
  • Will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips
  • Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects.

Many of the tasks we do on our computer such as a office applications,or image editing can be done online.Google addresses this fact and that’s why it seems that it will not include such things to make it a lightweight OS.
