Although I use Firefox and Chrome for my primary browsing,sometime Internet Explorer needs to be used.The latest version of IE ships with Windows 7 by default which I am not using at present.

We often work across many web browsers at different locations.Everywhere we save a lot of bookmarks and set preferences.Now in order to have same set of bookmarks and settings at different location across different browsers,it is necessary to backup the settings and restore at other places.

BSNL GPRS Settings for Nokia s40 3rd Edition Mobiles

Nokia mobiles with Symbian s40 3rd Edition operating system include many popular models like,Nokia 3500C,6300,6131,6233,6270,660 slide,6600 fold,3600 slide,6300i,5610Xpress music,5310xpress music,6500 and so on.

GPRS Settings configuration of all above mobiles are similar in nature and given below.Note that these are manual settings and you should try it only after you fail to get GPRS access after automatic settings.

Before you try these settings,Kindly make sure that-

You have tried Automatic configuration.
You know the basic terms and facts.
You have read General settings for Nokia mobiles.
You have installed Opera Mini browser on your mobile.

After all these, if you are still unable to open Internet on your mobile then,take a backup and then either RESET your mobile to factory defaults or erase all the settings by which you are unable to get Internet.

Then Setup you mobile as given below.User inputs are given in italics letters.Wherever are the italics letter,you have to write something but without brackets.

Update:

BSNL has changed Access points for many regions.It’s supposed that they are using a unified access point for all India regions.For example,the access point for northern region is no longer ‘gprsnorth.cellone.in’ bus it’s now “bsnlnet“.So kindly use the updated access points if you are unable to get GPRS by using the older access point.

Step By Step GPRS Settings for Nokia mobiles

Step-1

Go to Menu->Settings->Connectivity

Packet data->connection Select “When needed” .[Press Back]

Packet Data Settings->Active access points-Select any and activate. [Press Back]

Edit access point->Alias write <BSNL> [Press OK]

Packet data access point-<gprsnorth.cellone.in> Press OK. And then exit to the main menu.

Step 2

Go to Menu->Settings->configuration

Step 2A- Go to Personal config settings.Delete any existing configuration.Press options and select “Add New”

Select “Web” and put these settings-

Account Name-<My web>

Homepage-<www.Google.com>

user name and password-keep them blank

use preferred access point-YES .

Step 2B:As you selected web from options in step 2A again go to options and select “Access points” and put the following settings-

Account Name-Write <My Access Point> Press OK

Access point settings-> Data bearer ->Select “Packet data.” And Press back.

Bearer settings->

Packet data access point->write <gprsnorth.cellone.in> and press[OK.

Leave everything else as it is.

Step 3.Menu->Settings->configuration

Default config set-Select Personal Config settings. and select “details”.You should be able to see web and access point under items received.and press “Default” and then Press Back
Preferred access point:Select “My Access Point” and press Back.
Personal config sett.:Here you should see “My Access point” and “My web”. Highlight “My access point” and press Options and select “activate”. Do the same thing for “my access point .Press back and exit.

Step 4. Go to Menu->web->settings

Configuration settings-Select Personal config. And Press Back

Display terminal window- No.

Microsoft Australia is promoting Internet Explorer 8 in an special way.It’s started a campaign saying “Ten Grand is Buried Here “.IN this ,you have to get some clues to discover and win $10000.But to discover those clues you must be using IE8.

What’s interesting is that, when you open the competition page,it detects the browser and says that the browser you are using is old,tarnished or something.

When I opened the page in different browsers ,here is the message I got-

How to Setup Internet on PC Through GPRS Enabled Nokia Mobile Using PC suite

You can browse Internet on PC if your mobile has an inbuilt GPRS modem.Most of the modern mobiles which have Internet browsing facility do feature a modem and can be used to get Internet on PC.All you need is a GPRS connection from your mobile operator.

If you have a Nokia mobile and want to setup it for Internet access on computer, all you need is the data cable through which you can connect it to computer and latest version of PC suite installed on your PC.Here is how to setup.

GPRS Internet on PC Through PC Suite

Once you connect your Nokia mobile through data cable and have all the necessary drivers installed -your computer will show you a system tray pop up saying “Nokia xyz is now connected via USB”.Now here are step by step simple instructions to setup internet access.

Step 1

Open Nokia PC suite.And click on “Connect to Internet” as shown on the menu.

Step 2

Click on settings.

Once you click on settings,it will show you the available modem.Suppose you have connected Nokia 6300,it will show you Nokia 6300 modem.Select the modem and click next.

Step 3

Here you get option to either have automatic connection setup depending on the operator or manual settings. Select “configure the connection manually”

Step 4

This is the final step where you have to enter your GPRS access point.

For BSNL North Zone enter access point as “gprsnorth.cellone.in” without quotes.

It will be different for each region.Most probably it is gprswest.cellone.in for West region and so on.

Once you have entered this access point,leave all other fields blank and save and close the settings.All this done- you should be able to connect to Internet when you click connect on the one touch access menu.

Once Internet is connected the OTA(One Touch Access) is minimized to task bar and you can continue browsing.When browsing is over,click the disconnect button(which you used initially to connect).

Please note that browsing at computer will consume more data than normal mobile browsing.So check your plan before you set out for Internet on PC through GPRS.
