BSNL GPRS Activation and Configuration Settings
If you are a BSNL mobile subscriber and want to get Internet on your mobile through GPRS then you will need to configure your mobile for GPRS access.
But before configuring, you need to get GPRS services activated for your mobile.Earlier this year BSNL has activated GPRS on all prepaid mobiles.So you just need to configure your mobile and go surfing.Postpaid users will need to activate it as there are different plans for postpaid users.However, in case GPRS in not activated by default in your area, you can activate it by sending an SMS as follows,depending on what type of user you are.
BSNL Prepaid
SMS GPRSPRE to 53733 .It can take 24 hrs to get activated and you will get a confirmation message after activation.
BSNL postpaid
After you decide on the plan SMS GPRS49 or GPRS199 to 53733.It can take 24 hrs to get activated and you will get a confirmation message after activation.
Configuration settings for GPRS access
After your activation is done you need to configure your mobile to get GPRS data.You have to send a message to 58355 which contains your mobile model.For example-If you have a Nokia N70 ,SMS “Nokia N70″ to 58355.
Soon you will get WAP,Portal,GPRS and MMS settings from BSNL.Save them all to your mobile.Use either WAP or GPRS as your default access point if your mobile asks for it.
Why are so many settings given for-
- BSNL Portal settings -Enables your mobile to browse BSNL WAP portal i.e. http://wap.cellone.in
- BSNL WAP settings-Enables your mobile to browse any WAP enabled portal.
- BSNL GPRS-Enables your mobile to browse any site on Internet.Moreover this setting is responsible to get Internet on your Laptop/PC using your mobile.
- BSNL MMS-Needed to send and receive MMS.
After configuration it’s time to browse the Internet.Opera mini is a better browser than the default one.You can download Opera Mini and then start using it to know why it’s the world’s most popular mobile Web browser.

Fron which region you are..and which service provider you are using.If it’s BSNL try sending “Nokia 6600″ or “Nokia 6300″ to 58355.Make sure you have cleared all settings which you have modified.

What will be the cost of the sms which will send for activation of gprs?
I am not sure that the number is toll free or not, but it will not be charged as a premium SMS .Hence normal SMS charge will apply.

Is bsnl postpaid gprs 199 plan worth it.!
I mean what’s the surfing and download speed?
@RacerX-To be frank-plan 199 is suitable only if there is no option for Internet access as startup plans for broadband are available for as low as Rs.100/-.
Just some months ago I was using this plan-199.The download speed will never be more than 6-8KB per seconds that too at max.However it’s good for mobile browsing.So if you travel a lot or have very basic requirements like just checking mails-Go for it.
However if you plan to use it for regular browsing but can’t have broadband (due to travel or non availability) you can settle for data cards which will provide you better browsing experience and are available from almost every provider.
How to configure BSNL GPRS for postpaid windows 6 mobile?
gprs has been activate with my phone no 9437681556. i have nokia 6070 handset.but yahoo and google are not open with my set. while i going to open the site “NO SERVER ACESS” i saw on screen. plz help me for this proble.
@Manoj It may be due to any error in setting.Kindly reset your phone to factory default, after taking backup.Put the settings again,and try with Opera Mini Browser.

@ Deepika Are you browsing through Opera Mini?If not,I recommend you to download “Opera mini” from mini.opera.com
And if there are any glitches in settings,kindly wait for a day or two,I will be posting full details of the settings for more Nokia mobiles.

@Deepika:In this case it’s best to reset your mobile to factory defaults and setup again as guided here..It contains settings for your mobile, Nokia 6300.
Sir I have activated the GPRS of BSNL in My Mobile Phone i can access the interent on my Mobile phone i.e. nokia 6030 but when i connect through PC i Don’t know how to configure the PC and Which no. to Dial and how to set up the internet connection?

sir, I have followed all the steps told by you but after the ID and Passward verification I am getting Msg on My Phone ” Subscription to Packet Data not Available what should I Do
If Internet is working on your phone and not on the PC then the problem may be with GPRS access point on the phone.Also make sure that you have manual settings in Nokia PC suite with access point written properly and you have to keep ID and password fields BLANK..If GPRS in not working on mobile too then there may be a problem in activation.Which BSNL region you belong to?

i have a nokia 6300. i’ve bsnl south gprs activated (karnataka). i can do basic wap but whenever i try to use mobile yahoo, orkut or try to connect internet through it one message comes “subscribe to packet data first”. i’ve tried speaking to custumer care but no use. can you please suggest a solution for the problem above n manual settings to serf internet via my nokia 6300. thanks

@BJ: Nokia One Touch Access by itself does not need many settings.what it needs is “Manual configuration” and “Access point”.I am not sure about access point in your area-could be ”
gprswest.cellone.in”.Try this and also inquire about access point in your area and Yes -let me know if you get it.
I am having Sony Ericsson W705. I am using BSNL GPRS for PC Browing, its working like 3G…..with download speed of 70 KBps. Yaaa its KB per second (If not believed, give me ur mail ID, I will mail u the screenshots of the same). and a icon of 3G and H appears on the display. But same settings are not working for Browsing in my phone. Also used the BSNL Wap setting for phone browsing , but error : Communication Error. I have recharged my mobile with Rs. 230 unlimited GPRS plan. Please tell me why it is not working in my PC.
@Deepu:Congratulation that you are getting such speeds.I assume it’s because of 3G network.As far as phone browsing is concerned i am not sure whether they have a separate access point for 3G network or not.In case there is a separate access point you will nee to get it from your BSNL area .
How to Setup Internet on PC Through BSNL GPRS Enabled HP ipAQ 910C windows mobile 6.1 browsing internet on my mobile but iam not able to brows internet on pc through my mobile either blue tooth or data cable.
Please help in this matter it is most urgent.

Plz help me getting GPRS setting for my USHA LEXUS 898B set.I have subscribed BSNL post paid GPRS-199 plan. Location Orissa. BSNL customer service says they have activated the GPRS service but I am getting connection failure with all possible setting on my set. WAP–settings–edit profile–bsnlgprs–edit profile (profile-bsnlgprs)(homepage:http//www.yahoo.com)(data account; bsnlgprs)(connection type:html)(username-RAKESH)(password-nil) than profile activated. but browsing says connection failure. there is no such option for access point as some nokia user told me .plz help me.

@Rakesh: Please leave the user name field blank where you have put your name.Please use Opera Mini Browser for Internet.Unfortunately I can’t say where to set access point on a Usha Lexux mobile.Kindly retry fetching the settings from BSNL by sending N70 or Nokia 6600 as the model name.
Deepika press 0(hold) when web browsing screen appear then press options > setting > assess poing > and here set bsnlwap then u can use the net on your mobile definitely ok

@Rohit:Settings should not differ for your handset.If it’s giving constant problems in accessing GPRS you may try resetting the phone and put the setting again.

1 more thing, b4 activation prepaid users must have a minimum balance of 250Rs for 24hrs, for activating GPRS.

Now I don’t know how to configure this on this New Micromax Q3.This instrument has opera and Nimbuzz enabled. Please help me.

Are you able to get internet using the default browser?If not,then check your settings first,and then retry.

You will have to enter settings manually as BSNL will not be able to provide settings for each and every mobile.
